Published Jun 25, 2020Looks like Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 never got the memo about staying away from cottage country during a global pandemic. But one deer is probably grateful the pop-punk veteran made it out to his summer vacay-spot — since he was there in time to save the animal from certain death.
In an Instagram post from earlier today, Hoppus shared a video his wife took of him rescuing a deer out in rural Idaho where it appears the couple have been taking some time off.
In the clip, you can see a deer swimming in the middle of Redfish Lake, struggling to stay afloat, before Hoppus tries to coax the animal onto his boat.
"No idea how it got there," Hoppus explained. "It was panicked, shivering, panting, tired, swimming in circles. I got on the swim step and we pulled up alongside it and I was able to get my arms around the bottom of its neck and tried to pull it up but it was too heavy."
He continued: "So for 20 minutes we slowly shepherded this deer across the lake — like herding goats in Twilight Princess — to the nearest shore. We got there and the deer stumbled out of the water, looked back at us for a few seconds, and bounded off into the woods. We saved a deer today!!"
What a dear.
