Published Oct 12, 2010The massive buzz that greeted their early EPs may have died down somewhat, but So-Cal indie rockers Cold War Kids have continued to release a steady stream of new music. The band's last full-length, 2008's Loyalty to Loyalty, garnered mixed reviews, but that hasn't discouraged the band from announcing their third LP, Mine Is Yours.
The album will be out January 25 via Downtown Records. Frontman Nathan Willett told Spin, "It has a grand and sprawling sound. [It's] a big, ornate rock record."
It was recorded with producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse) over three months in high-end studios. "We really strapped down and wrote songs that are more ornate and intricate than anything we've done before, while also refining and capturing the wildness of our live shows," Willett said.
As for the lyrics, a Willett added in a press release, "I got home from tour and realized I was married. All my friends had either jumped in the deep end of a relationship or had drowned. When did things get so serious? We fought growing up but the wild nights and free-for-all caught up to us. Some people got out in time and others had permanent damage. For this record, I wrote about the joys and failures of commitment all around me."
There's currently no tracklist, but Spin reports that track titles include "Skip the Charades" and "Bulldozer." The band will be gearing up for the album release with a U.S. tour. See the dates below.
