Published May 09, 2019The second round of Music Video Production Project grant recipients was announced this morning, and among the successful applicants are Harrison, Tanika Charles and Said the Whale.
The list of Round 2 recipients is rounded out by Amaal, Hansom Eli, Shay Lia, Maky Lavender, Dylan Menzie and Desiire.
Each artist will be awarded a grant valued between $5,000 and $15,000 CAD to develop his or her proposed music video.
The MVP Project was started last year to help fill the void left by the 2017 cuts to MuchFACT video funding, and the first round of prizes were awarded last fall to Beatchild & the Slakadeliqs, Jordan Klassen, Tim Baker, Govi, Milk & Bone, Wild Black, Jeremy Dutcher and Sean Leon.
The MVP Project is part of the RBC Emerging Artists Project, which was set up in 2015 to support artists and help them "bridge the gap from emerging to established."
The grants are awarded in conjunction with the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, and candidates are voted on by a jury of music and media professionals.
