Published Jun 02, 2015Syrian electro-folk fellow Omar Souleyman tapped some notable producers for his new album Bahdeni Nami. This includes Four Tet, who produced the title track. This song has now gotten a video ahead of the album's release next month.
"Bahdeni Nami" is an eight-minute collision of musical cultures, as Eastern-sounding riffs, vocals and percussion are anchored by a thumping, clubby pulse. In the clip, we see Souleyman lighting up a cigarette, embarking on a highway drive, hanging out in a desert and reclining on a couch. These shots are intercut with city footage that reflects the local culture. Luckily for English-speaking listeners, the vocals come with translated subtitles.
The clip was directed by Mina Tosti. Watch it below.
Bahdeni Nami will be out on July 28 through Monkeytown. Other contributors include Modeselektor, Gilles Peterson and Legowelt.
