The Weeknd to Headline Super Bowl 55 Halftime Show
The game will take place in Tampa in February
Published Nov 12, 2020The Weeknd will perform at the 2021 Super Bowl halftime show, which is scheduled to take place on February 7.
"We all grow up watching the world's biggest acts playing the Super Bowl, and one can only dream of being in that position," the artist said in a statement. "I'm humbled, honoured and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year."
The 2021 halftime show will be the second entertainment segment produced in part by JAY-Z's Roc Nation in collaboration with the NFL.
"The Weeknd has introduced a sound all his own," JAY-Z said in a statement. "His soulful uniqueness has defined a new generation of greatness in music and artistry."
The league will scale back attendance in accordance with coronavirus safety precautions, filling only about 20 percent of the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa during the show.
The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, released his massively popular new record After Hours back in March. The album features contributions from Metro Boomin, Illangelo, Oneohtrix Point Never, Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, Frank Dukes, Max Martin, Dre Moon and more.
